He would have turned 91 years old today, which would have been his birthday. It has been seven and a half years since he passed away. Not a day that I will ever forget. As I write this, tears are running down my face. I long for him. We had a unique and wonderful relationship. We used to write each other letters when I was younger.

The number of children I know who write letters to their grandparents—or anyone else, for that matter—is quite low in today’s society. I don’t know many children who do this. The act of receiving a letter in the mail and then immediately responding to it was always a moment that was highly valued.

It was not always the case that I was as punctual as I ought to have been, but regardless of how long it took me to send a letter, I felt confident that I would be receiving one in return. Every letter was saved by me. At this point, it is the only thing that brings me closer to him.

Tomorrow is going to be a day where I experience a range of feelings. One of my most cherished days of the year has always been the Fourth of July. A wonderful day with fireworks, sunshine, summer, and delicious cuisine.

Nevertheless, I lost another incredible man in my life seven years ago, and that man was my father-in-law. He was a courageous and witty man who was stolen from us much too soon. He was a fantastic man.

I despise cancer. It would have been wonderful if my children got the opportunity to meet both of them. What are some ways that you might recover from two significant events and make an effort to create good memories of a day that was already cherished? An infant.

Our oldest child will turn six tomorrow. All of this was destined to happen, I swear. This week and this day were both brightened by her presence. One may say that it is a double blessing. I never cease to be astounded by how much she has developed. Not only literally, but also in a generic sense.

In all of my years, I have never once considered the possibility that she might one day be able to read a book to me, or that she would be able to write letters for us or for her friends. Additionally, I see a lot of myself in her, and it is something that gives me a little bit of a fright.

It is true that we are our parents, and as a result, she is me. Just give that some thought for a moment. Describe your childhood to me. There is a glimpse into your history or future. Please don’t tell me that’s not terrifying.

As a natural continuation of my love for s’mores, I would like to share with you a recipe that is incredibly simple and can be prepared at the last minute for your friends, family, or even just for yourself. It is a standard s’more, but it is one hundred times better, provided that you appreciate eating delicious strawberries.

Fruits of the highest quality. They make everything better… kind of like bacon, except that I vow I will never put bacon in s’mores since I am really trying very hard to avoid adding bacon to my sweets. When it comes to the sweet and salty thing, take baby steps.

Make sure that you use a marshmallow of the appropriate size. This is the most important thing. If you consume an excessive amount, you will be flooded with marshmallow, which is not necessarily a negative thing; however, it will be messier than it normally would be. Still delicious. It is recommended that you use either one standard marshmallow or slightly less than half of a gigantic marshmallow.
