While feeding a kid isn't always fun, it can deliver surprises. A huge loaf of Reuben Pull Apart Bread was a nice surprise.
INGREDIENTS
For the bread:
– 2 cups thick sliced corned beef, chopped into strip
– 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
– 1 can sauerkraut, drained
– 1 round rye loaf (or sourdough in a pinch)
For the sauce:
– 1/2 cup mayonnaise
– 2 Tablespoons ketchup
– 1 teaspoon worcestershire
– 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
– 2 teaspoons sweet pickle relish juice
INSTRUCTIONS
Start with a 400-degree oven. Slice the bread in parallel and perpendicular lines about an inch apart to form it, without cutting through it. Put the loaves on a baking sheet.
Step 1
Put the meat, cheese, and cabbage in a bowl and mix them together. You can use your fingers to press the cheese mixture into each row of the piece of bread.
Step 2
Put the loaf in the oven and bake it for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the cheese melts.
Step 3
In the meantime, mix all the sauce ingredients together with a whisk. Warm up the bread and set it out with sauce on the side.
