I had a sore throat this weekend and didn't want to cook. But I wanted donuts. I wanted something new, so I found this African donut recipe online. I was thrilled.
– 3 cups all purpose flour– ½ cup coconut milk– ½ cup sugar– 1 egg– 1 teaspoon active dry yeast– ½ cup warm water– 1 tablespoon vegetable oil– ½ teaspoon salt– 1 teaspoon cardamom– 1 teaspoon cinnamon– vegetable oil for frying donut
Ingredient
1
Stir the yeast and warm water together in a small basin. Wait five minutes for the yeast to dissolve.
2
Combine the flour, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt in the bowl of your mixer and stir.
3
When you add the yeast mixture, add the vegetable oil, egg, coconut milk, and sugar.
4
Mix everything with the hook attachment until the dough isn't sticky and doesn't stick to the bowl. Add flour if needed.
5
Cover the dough with plastic wrap in an oiled bowl. Wait an hour for the dough to rise.
6
Heat oil in a wok or frying pan. Cut the dough into 6 pieces for easier rolling and cutting.
7
Fry both sides. Put donuts on paper towels to absorb grease. Use remaining dough. Sprinkle powder sugar and enjoy.
