The Best Pork Cabbage Dumplings Recipe

Who doesn't like dumplings? My favorite dumplings are pillowy and stuffed with salty-savory meat. Really? Love them with any filling! They're wonderful and addictive.


For the Dumpling 1. 1 pound ground pork 2. 1/2 cup green onions, finely chopped (about 3 green onions) 3. 1/2 inch knob ginger, peeled and finely grated 4. 1 tablespoon coconut amino 5. 1 teaspoon fish sauce 6. 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil 7. 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional) 8. 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt 9. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 10. 15 savoy cabbage leaves, ends trimmed (or regular green cabbage(see notes*)) 11. 2 cups broth (approximately) For the Sauce 1. 2 tablespoons coconut amino 2. 1 tablespoon lime juice (about 1/2 lime) 3. 1 1/2 teaspoons fish sauce 4. Toasted Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)


Wrap a large baking sheet in paper towels. 1 big pot of water with a dash of salt should boil.

Step 1

Mix ground pork, green onions, ginger, coconut aminos, fish sauce, toasted sesame oil, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix by hand until smooth. Set aside.

Step 2

Boil cabbage leaves for 3 minutes to soften. Cool the delicate cabbage leaves on the paper towel-lined baking sheet until handleable.

Step 3

Paper towels remove extra water from cabbage after cooling. Place 1 ½ tbsp. of pork mixture in the center of the leaf to wrap.

Cover meat mixture with thick cabbage stem. Start rolling Roll and tuck sides horizontally with thumb and forefinger. Gently

compacts it into a dumpling. Roll a mini-burrito. Put a steamer basket on top of 2 inches of soup to steam dumplings.

Step 6

Put dumplings seam-side down in steamer basket or stack and boil soup. After boiling, cover and steam dumplings for 12–13 minutes to cook meat.  

Step 7

A dumpling's core can be sliced to check meat pinkness. Fill electric steamer bottom with broth. Place dumplings in steamer basket carefully and cover. 15-minute steam.

Step 8

While dumplings steam, cook sauce. Mix “For the Sauce” components. Use tongs to place cooked dumplings on a paper towel-lined tray, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and serve with dipping sauce. Enjoy!
