Make sure the crust and topping are ready:

  • Get the oven ready by preheating it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lining a square baking pan measuring 8 inches with parchment paper.
  • A large bowl or mixing bowl should be used to combine all of the ingredients for the shortbread crust and topping. The ingredients should be thoroughly mixed until they are completely incorporated. It is not necessary to separate the dry ingredients from the wet ingredients because it is possible to combine all of the various components at the same time. If you want the mixture to resemble cookie dough, it should be quite dry.

  • Prepare a portion of the dough equal to half a cup and set it aside for use as the topping for the crumble.
  • Put the remaining crust mixture into the pan that has been lined with parchment paper and press it down until it forms an equal layer. A fork should be used to create a number of holes in the dough.
In an oven that has been prepared, place the crust on the middle rack and bake it for ten to twelve minutes, or until the crust is golden brown around the boundaries.

Assemble the filling for the blackberries:

  • Combine all of the components for the blackberry filling in a saucepan of medium size and stir them together thoroughly. While the pan is being heated over medium-high heat, the mixture should be brought to a full boil. Cover the pan.
  • The blackberries should be mashed into smaller bits using a fork or the back of a spoon once the water has reached a boil. The heat should then be reduced to medium. Approximately three to five minutes after the filling has begun to thicken, continue cooking and stirring it.

The Blackberry Bars should be made:

  • As soon as the crust has been created, pour the blackberry filling mixture over it and spread it out evenly around the crust.
  • After the blackberry layer has been covered, sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture on top.
Maintaining the temperature at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, bake the bars on the middle rack for twenty to twenty-five minutes, or until the crumb topping is golden brown and the blackberry mixture is bubbling.
After removing the bars from the oven, wait until they have completely cooled down before continuing to slice and serve them.

  • After allowing the bars to cool for ten to fifteen minutes (or until the pan is cool enough to touch), you can then move the bars to the refrigerator to chill the remaining portion of the procedure. This will help you complete the process more quickly.
  • Place the bars on a cutting board, and then use a knife that is very sharp to cut each bar into individual pieces.

  • Bars can be kept in the refrigerator for up to seven days if they are stored in an airtight container. The bars can be kept at room temperature by covering them with plastic wrap; however, if they are to be kept for more than two days, I would suggest that they be refrigerated. The bars can also be frozen for up to three months in a freezer bag or any container that is safe for use in the freezer.
